Nikon where is it

Been waiting with baited breath for the announcement of the next generation FX format DSLR’s. I am still using my old and trusty D200 but really want to enjoy the benefits of high ISO/low noise together with being able to get into HD video.

In weak moments I look at the D3s but then draw back and think, more pixels (not too may I hope otherwise lightroom & CS5 will slow to a snail’s pace in rendering) better focussing and perhaps some other surprises

Come on Nikon gives us some idea.

Doesn’t he look angelic – butter wouldn’t melt?

Well you Irish/French friend

How on earth can a man whose country was knocked out of a tournament and is half French be allowed to referee a country who beat his half country and is playing against the other half. Is this crazy? A man who has no empathy with the situation and players and seems to believe that he is the most important participant in the game

Words fail me. I hope he never sets foot in Pays de Galles again and hopefully does not officiate in a match that includes a Welsh team particularly the ERC.

Perhaps he will not get another International or he will bow out. Also appears that the IRB are rather embarrassed thats why he got a touch judge role for the final.

Saturday the 8th 6:00am @ Wellington NZ

What can I say the anticipation is frightening, keep all players fit and the unimaginable may well come to pass. Don’t even say it.

For once we are possibly the most focussed side in the tournament and what prospects. Have watched the likes of Warburton, Halfpenny, Williams (Scott), Knoyle in the U 20′s and thought Wales will be in good hands. Well done to Gatland and his team for bringing these younger players in and playing them in major games.

Watch the discipline and do nothing eratic. Go for it if the opportunity arises.

Pressure on their midfield, there can be a weakness there. Competitive tackling and dynamic go forward in the ball carriers.

Best of luck remember your countrymen don’t all live in Wales.

Whilst the Ospreys is my team if the Scarlets can get a competitive pack then they are going to be a threat to anyone when this tournament is all over, shame about the results so far. About time the Heineken came to us.

Black and White Photography

TonedMy interest in the production Black & White prints started in the good old bad days using black and white film in a dark room with all those old chemicals.

Since moving to digital photography I now assess my images from shoots to determine whether the colour images are more suited to black and white.

In order to achieve the best black & white images I have progressed from using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to process the images to Nik Silver Efex Pro. This software is simple to use and its various algorithms produce stunning images.

The finishing options in Silver Efex are the icing on the cake this image is a good example.

HDR photography

HDRBoats

Having been exposed to the concept of High Dynamic Range (HDR) photcs whilst attenting on line video tutorials at Kelby Training and NAPP I wanted to try this technique out myself. My Nikon D200 has the functionality that allows continuous shooting with exposure bracketing so the capture of multiple exposures required by HDR processing was straightforward.  Adopting  guidelines for the range of exposures (given by Kelby Training) firstly I experimented with Photoshop CS5′s HDR Pro feature. This technique gave some reasonable results. More recently I purchased R C Conception’s book  ”THE HDR BOOK” (Great book by the way) and adopted his preferred Software for obtaining

Tone Mapping  of images i.e. Nik  HDR Efex Pro. Using this software I was able to get the type of image I wanted. I am still experimenting with its various sliders & presets to take the quality of images to the next level.
